Chief Bridesmaid/ Matron of honour duties

In the build up to the big day the bride will (in most cases) rely heavily on her bridal party to help her with a lot of the nessecities.

All brides however are different and some will need a lot more help than others. In a lot of cases the opinions of the bridal party are key when it comes to the colour of the dresses, the flowers and general wedding details. Although the bride and groom will already have an idea themselves as to what they want to happen on their big day, they will no doubt require input from the bridal party.

We have all heard of the term “Bridezilla” where your once kind and caring best friend/ sister has suddenly turned into a monster and is snapping at you at every opportunity! This is completely normal and it’s important to remember that if the future bride needs to de stress or complain about something to do with the wedding then you will be the first port of call.

Your main big duty that you will have to perform is the all important hen night arrangements. Although you may want to keep the details of the actual event a secret from the bride it is important to sit down with her at some point and sort out a list of who she wants to attend. Remember that it is her night and that there will be a lot of people that you will not know even though you may think that you know her inside out. There will be work colleagues and old friends that you may never have met.

Stick as much as possible to the list and then get about organizing and ringing/e mailing the people that she wishes to have present.

The big day!!

Once the big day has arrived it’s your time to shine (although not too brightly!).

You’re duties on the day will include

Assisting the bride with dressing, make up, hair etc
Make sure that the bride has everything that she needs or desires (It’s her day afterall)
Once at the church show guests to their seats if there are no ushers on hand
If your bride has a long train make sure that you fix it once the bride has knelt/sat at the altar. Keep an eye on it throughout the service. She may have spent thousands on her dress and people will be taking photos from the back so she wont thank you if her dress looks like a crumpled ball in all the pictures!

At the reception be sure to mingle with the guests and make sure that everyone is having a good time
The most important duty of all however is the moral support that you provide on the day

Last but not least sit back, relax and enjoy the fun afterwards!
